A family recipe with a reservation book

From a marble counter outside Bologna
Giovanni grew up sheeting pasta beside his grandmother, learning that the difference between good and unforgettable is almost always patience. He cooked through Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont before crossing the Atlantic in 1991.
Three years later he opened Bella Vista on Columbus Avenue with his wife Lucia in the front of house. The menu has evolved. The standard has not.

Four rules we don't bend
Made by hand
Pasta, focaccia, gelato, and dessert are all produced in-house daily. Nothing arrives frozen.
Sourced close
Produce from three Bay Area farms, seafood off the Half Moon Bay boats, imported staples from Emilia-Romagna.
Served warmly
Our servers are career hospitality professionals, not a rotating cast. Most have been here over five years.
Unhurried
We never turn a table twice in an evening. The reservation is yours for as long as you want it.
Every morning starts with flour and eggs
By seven, the pasta room is running. Tagliatelle, tonnarelli, ravioli, and gnocchi are all made before service, cut to order, and cooked to the minute. What isn't served that night doesn't carry over.
